Gholamreza Aavani

Gholamreza Aavani, born 24 February 1943 in Semnan, is an Iranian philosopher, translator, and professor of philosophy. He is a former professor in the Philosophy Department at Shahid Beheshti University, former president of the Iranian Institute of Philosophy, a permanent member of the Academy of Sciences, and one of the enduring figures of philosophy in Iran. His main areas of work are Islamic philosophy, Illuminationist Wisdom, comparative philosophy, and dialogue between the Islamic philosophical tradition and Western philosophy.
