Life and Thought
Mohammad Mashinchian is an Iranian researcher, journalist, author, and translator in the fields of political economy, public policy, and liberal thought. He has contributed to publications such as Donya-e-Eqtesad, Sazandegi, Tejarat-e-Farda, and Siasatnameh, and has translated numerous works on capitalism, socialism, free trade, and the liberal tradition into Persian.
Mohammad Mashinchian, born in 1981 in Mashhad, is an Iranian researcher and journalist whose intellectual and professional path has been shaped largely in connection with political economy, public policy, the critique of centralized economics, and the defense of liberal reforms. His interest in politics and economics led him into the press and subsequently into policy research.
In Iran, he has collaborated with and advised institutions such as the Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Presidential Think Tank, the Privatization Organization, and several ministries. The central focus of his research and media activities has been the defense of institutional reforms, the market economy, economic freedom, and the critique of centralized and planned models in Iran's economy.
Mashinchian has also been active in journalism, writing for or holding editorial responsibilities at publications such as Donya-e-Eqtesad, Sazandegi, Tejarat-e-Farda, and Siasatnameh. He has published numerous writings and translations in the fields of economics, public policy, the history of ideas, political philosophy, and economic literacy, and in recent years has continued his work from outside Iran.
Among the translations and published works he has collaborated on or rendered are "Early Islam and the Birth of Capitalism," "Socialism," "Free Trade," "Toleration," "101 Liberal Thinkers," and "The Reason of Livelihood." These works reflect his focus on the history of capitalism, the liberal tradition, the critique of socialism, the market economy, and the relationship between economic institutions, development, and freedom.
