Tahereh Sheikholeslam (born 1947) is a university lecturer, author, and researcher on cultural issues. Through her two books, *Why We Became This Way* and *In the Captivity of Culture*, she has analyzed the roots of cultural problems and the Iranian character. Her work focuses on the critique of negative cultural values and their impact on social backwardness.
