About this video
Dostoevsky is not merely a great novelist; his works are an arena for the human being's confrontation with sin, suffering, freedom, faith, doubt, love, and the possibility of redemption. This lecture, titled "The Secret of Dostoevsky," attempts to show why Dostoevsky's fictional world remains alive and deeply moving for understanding the contemporary human being.
In this virtual session at the Book City Institute, part of the "A Week with Dostoevsky" series held on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth, Masoud Zanjani delves into the philosophical and existential layers of Dostoevsky's works. The central question is what image of the human being, freedom, evil, and moral responsibility Dostoevsky presents beyond his fictional narratives.
This program is significant for those interested in philosophy, literature, ethics, and the meaning of life, as it introduces Dostoevsky not merely as a classic author, but as a literary thinker who has revealed the fundamental problems of the human being in the form of stories.
