The food system is responsible for a third of greenhouse gases; reforming it is essential for the Paris Agreement. The booklet 'A Guide to Environmentally Friendly Eating' uses scientific evidence to examine the costs of food production on the planet and introduces climate-friendly diets.

Environmental crises are intensifying every day. Slowing the pace of climate change and global warming, while the population grows and the world's people need food, has posed a major challenge to the global food system. Supplying human sustenance requires the consumption of water, land, and fertilizer. Food production also contributes to deforestation, biodiversity loss, and greenhouse gas emissions. The source of about one-third of the greenhouse gases emitted by human activities goes back to the food system, and as a result, scientists say that without addressing and reforming the food issue, achieving the Paris Climate Agreement is unlikely or impossible.
The booklet "A Guide to Environmentally Sustainable Eating" addresses these questions:
What costs does the production of various foodstuffs impose on the planet?
Which foodstuffs are most destructive to the environment?
Can more food be produced while simultaneously reducing resource waste?
What is the most climate-friendly diet?
How can deforestation be reduced?
A prerequisite for a true democracy is access to reliable information on key issues, having the right to choose and access to various options, and public dialogue. Raising awareness about the environmental impacts of our plates based on scientific evidence and advancing public dialogue in the field of dietary sustainability is the goal of this guidebook.
