Registration Open for an Introductory Course on Analytic Political Philosophy

As it has been said, political philosophy deals with the clarification of political concepts, criteria, normative rules and principles of politics, political theories or ideologies, and applied politics. It should be noted that political philosophy does not perform this clarification in a descriptive manner but is first and foremost normative; that is, it deals with the question of what is morally right and what is wrong. In other words, political philosophy is in search of the truth about the way we organize our social and political life. Political philosophy asks: what is the right way to organize our social and political life? In this course, we have selected several questions to reflect and reason about them a little and to outline the challenges facing the discussions. In the first session, we will talk about the nature and purpose of political philosophy. In the next session, we will begin with the question of why a state or government should exist at all and what reasons there are for it. Then we will address how the state should think in its policymaking and what goal it should pursue. After that, we will turn to challenging issues such as human rights, freedom and its limits, democracy, equality, social justice, and so on.
