Sharif University of Technology Summer School on Evolution: In recent decades, evolution has taken on vast dimensions. These dimensions have crossed the boundaries of biology and transformed the humanities, the natural sciences, as well as philosophy. The scope of these influences prompted us to examine some of these dimensions in the form of a summer school, with the participation of a group of distinguished scholars from this land as well as several international academics. This school will be held over three days, from the 12th to the 14th of Shahrivar 1397, at Sharif University of Technology. On the first day, we will address biological evolution, and invited professors will discuss some of its aspects. The nature of evolution and its mechanism will be the concern of the first day. On this day, the achievements of the theory of evolution will be defended. After the morning session and the professors' panel in the afternoon, a video conference with a foreign thinker who defends the theory of evolution will conclude the day's program. The second day will be devoted to the impact of evolution on the humanities, including psychology, cognitive science, and so on, and the school will conclude its work on the second day with a video conference by a foreign thinker in one of these fields. The necessity of understanding the relationship between our philosophical tradition and evolution, as an imperative, will be the program for the third day of this school. Islamic philosophy, possessing many capabilities, can play an important role in utilizing or critiquing certain dimensions of the theory of evolution. We have tried to put this subject to the test with the help of expert professors. Furthermore, in order to become acquainted with critiques of the theory of evolution raised at the global level, a video conference with an international critic and professor in the evening session will be the fitting finale of this school.
