Hossein Masoumi Hamedani

Hossein Masoumi Hamedani, born on 6 December 1948 in Hamadan, is an Iranian researcher in the history of science, philosophy of science, history of mathematics, translator, and permanent member of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature. He is the son of Akhund Molla Ali Masoumi Hamedani. He received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1972 from Aryamehr University of Technology, now known as Sharif University of Technology, and later continued his studies in the history of science. In 2006, he received his PhD in history of science from Paris 7 University with a dissertation on Ibn al-Haytham under the supervision of Roshdi Rashed.

Masoumi Hamedani has taught Persian literature, history of mathematics, history of science, and philosophy of science at the Institute for Research in Philosophy of Iran and Sharif University of Technology. He also served as the head of the Language and Computer group at the Academy of Persian Language and Literature and has contributed articles to various encyclopedias and scientific and cultural publications.

His main areas of research include the history of science in the Islamic world, history of mathematics, philosophy of science, history of physics, studies on Ibn al-Haytham, scientific Persian language, translation of scientific texts, and the relationship between modern science and Islamic scientific traditions. He is among the scholars who have connected scientific precision, historical knowledge, and clear Persian prose.
