Life and Thought

Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi, born 597 AH in Tus and died 672 AH in Baghdad, was a philosopher, theologian, mathematician, astronomer, and one of the greatest Iranian scientists of the Islamic world. He wrote enduring works in philosophy, ethics, logic, theology, mathematics, and astronomy, and played a significant role in the history of science by founding and organizing the Maragheh Observatory. His works, especially *The Nasirean Ethics* and *Tajrid al-Iʿtiqad*, have been influential in the philosophical and theological tradition of Iran and the Islamic world.
