Life and Thought
Mohammad ibn Mohammad Ghazali was a thinker, Shafi'i jurist, and Ash'ari mystic of the fifth and sixth centuries AH, whose works had a profound impact on Islamic philosophy, theology, and Sufism. He is the author of important books such as *Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din* (The Revival of the Religious Sciences) and *Tahafut al-Falasifa* (The Incoherence of the Philosophers).
