Nezam Bahrami Komeil

Nezam Bahrami Komeil, born 1971, is an Iranian sociologist, cultural critic, and writer. His main areas of work are the sociology of culture, Iranian intellectualism, the sociology of communication and media, and teaching sociological concepts. He is the author of works such as A Typology of Iranian Intellectuals, Media Theory, Name-Worship, Fields of Sociology, and Insights and Theories of Sociology.

Bahrami Komeil works mostly at the intersection of sociology, cultural criticism, and media studies. One of the central axes of his work is the analysis of Iranian intellectualism; that is, an attempt to classify, understand, and critique the role of intellectuals in Iranian society. The book A Typology of Iranian Intellectuals was written with this very aim.

Another axis of his work is media and communication. The book Media Theory: The Sociology of Communication examines the main paradigms in the field of media theory and the sociology of communication and, according to the publisher's introduction, includes sections on communication approaches and paradigms, media power, and discourse analysis.
