Hamid Vahid Dastjerdi, known as Hamid Vahid, is an Iranian philosopher and researcher in analytic philosophy. He is the head of the Analytic Philosophy Research Group at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM) and is considered one of the prominent figures of analytic philosophy in Iran. Vahid studied at Sharif University of Technology, the University of Warwick, the London School of Economics, and the University of Oxford, where he received his doctorate in philosophical logic.
He has worked primarily within the English-language analytic philosophy tradition and has published numerous articles in prestigious international journals. In the Persian-speaking world, his name is also associated with discussions in epistemology, critiques of relativism, critiques of Abdolkarim Soroush's views on the contraction and expansion of religious knowledge, and the defense of realist approaches in the philosophy of religion and epistemology.
Vahid's main focus is on epistemology, skepticism, epistemic justification, belief, epistemic reasons, philosophy of mind, philosophical logic, and the analytic philosophy of religion. In his works, he addresses issues such as the possibility of justifying belief, the challenge of skepticism, the structure of epistemic reasons, and the relationship between belief and rationality.
Among his honors is being selected for the second Allameh Tabatabaei Scientific Award from the National Elites Foundation in 2012.
