Khosrow Bagheri

Khosrow Bagheri, born 1957 in Tehran, is a professor of philosophy of education at the University of Tehran. He earned his bachelor's degree from Allameh Tabataba'i University, his master's from Tarbiat Modares University, and his PhD in philosophy of education from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Bagheri has taught at the Faculty of Psychology and Education at the University of Tehran and is an influential figure in the philosophy of education, religious upbringing, the philosophy of psychology, and the discourse on religious science in Iran.

Bagheri's main focus is on the philosophy of education, Islamic education, religious upbringing, the philosophy of psychology, the philosophy of science, religious science, human agency, and the relationship between religion and the humanities. In his works, he has sought to reconstruct religious education based on the concept of the 'human as agent'—a human being who makes decisions in real situations and bears moral responsibility.

In the debate on religious science, Bagheri advocates an approach that considers religious presuppositions effective in the process of generating theories in the humanities, while simultaneously emphasizing the preservation of the empirical method and the possibility of scholarly dialogue with modern knowledge.
