Soroush Dabbagh

Soroush Haj Farajollah Dabbagh, known as Soroush Dabbagh, born on June 7, 1974, in Tehran, is a philosophy researcher, religious studies scholar, translator, and psychotherapist. He is the son of Abdolkarim Soroush. He completed high school at Nikan School and then studied pharmacy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, earning his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1998.

In 2002, he moved to the United Kingdom for further studies and received a PhD in moral philosophy with an analytic orientation from the University of Warwick. His dissertation focused on moral reasons, moral particularism, and patterns of moral action. After returning to Iran, he taught at universities and institutions such as Tarbiat Modares, Mofid, Shahid Beheshti, Payam-e Noor, Islamic Azad University, and the Iranian Institute of Philosophy. He later completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto and continued his research, teaching, and psychotherapy practice in Canada. He is the director of the Institute for Knowledge and Research in Tehran and the Suhrawardi Cultural Foundation in Toronto.

Dabbagh's main focus is on analytic philosophy, moral philosophy, Wittgenstein's philosophy, religious reformism, modern mysticism, philosophy of language, Sohrab Sepehri studies, Rumi studies, and the relationship between religion, ethics, and contemporary life. In his religious works, he explores the possibility of religious reformism, ethical reinterpretation of religious rulings, religious experience, modern spirituality, and the relationship between faith and the modern world.
