Albert Camus (1913–1960) was a French writer, philosopher, and journalist, and the winner of the 1957 Nobel Prize in Literature. With works such as *The Stranger* and *The Myth of Sisyphus*, he introduced the concept of the absurd into contemporary literature and philosophy.
