Bijan Abdolkarimi (born 1963) is a philosopher and philosophy researcher, and an associate professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Islamic Azad University, North Tehran Branch. His areas of activity include continental philosophy, Heidegger studies, and the relationship between tradition and modernity.
Bijan Abdolkarimi, born 1963, is a philosopher, philosophy researcher, and associate professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Islamic Azad University, North Tehran Branch. He completed his BA and MA in philosophy at the University of Tehran and received his PhD in philosophy from Aligarh Muslim University in India.
Abdolkarimi has worked primarily in the fields of continental philosophy, Heidegger studies, the relationship between tradition and modernity, the possibility of religious thought in the contemporary world, the critique of theology, the critique of ideology, and the reinterpretation of thinkers such as Ali Shariati and Ahmad Fardid. He is a critic of purely political and ideological approaches to culture and the humanities, and emphasizes the necessity of an ontological approach to religious, social, and cultural issues.
